HMM launches new digital booking platform

South Korean carrier Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has launched Hi Quote – a new digital booking platform with guaranteed space for customers.

With the launch of this new product, HMM will be able to offer a comprehensive contact-free sales experience featuring:

  • Instant quotes on spot rates – quotes will be sent to customers on a real-time basis with the desired dates.
  • Automatic booking confirmation – bookings confirmation will be completed within minutes.
  • Secured space – confirmed booking via Hi Quote will benefit from guaranteed cargo space.

So far, the service is only available for export cargoes loaded on dry containers from Korea to Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, South America, and Australia.

The US and Canada will be included by the end of 2022.

“Hi Quote has been designed on our technological capabilities. We will continue to expand service coverage of Hi Quote at a global level to provide our customers with more visibility and efficiency in a much simpler way,” said a HMM representative.

“In the mid-to-long term, we will consider integrating inland logistics network into Hi Quote, while at the same time applying freight rate solutions powered by Artificial Intelligence.”

HMM also recently recorded its best-ever quarterly profits in Q1 2022.

The company posted a growth in revenue by 103 per cent to KRW 4,919 billion ($3.8 billion).

Operating profit tripled to KRW 3,149 billion ($2.4 billion) from KRW 1,019 billion ($795 million) in Q1 2021, with an operating margin growing to 64 per cent in 2022 from 42 per cent in 2021.
