Fully Automated Terminal Evolution Explained by Vahle
Vahle's CEO Achim Dries has explained how manual terminals evolve through remote operations to eventually become fully automated.
In an interview with Port Technology at TOC 2017, Dries shared the company's ambition to change the way automation is used to benefit terminal operators and their customers.
According to Dries, a fully automated terminal could cut the number of operators from 10 to just one as processes would always need to involve a human being.
He said: "Remote is not always fully automated in terms of there being no human being. That, at the moment, is impossible."
Dries told PTI that the key to automating equipment is data transmission.
As a system supplier, Vahle keeps this in mind when serving its clients with solutions for positioning.
