As part of the induction of the Suez Canal project, veteran Egyptian poet, singer and actor Abdel Rahman al-Abnoudy, also know as Mohamed Mournir, is currently preparing lyrics for a musical drama, which will be presented before the launch of the project.

PTI previously reported that the Suez Canal project is 67.5% complete, with 169 cubic metres out of 180 million currently dredged.

As reported by Albawaba, Mohamed Mounir praised the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, saying that “the president’s success in the Egypt Economic Development Conference which concluded on Sunday in Sharm al-Sheikh.”

The Egyptian President has also been involved with Russian investors after urging them to invest in the Suez Canal’s development.

The Suez Canal recently saw its revenue rise by 11% to around US$5.5bn as a result of improved performance in 2014.
