ECT Delta Terminal orders further VDL AGVs

  • 63 AGVs to be delivered to Rotterdam container terminal from April next year

VDL has signed a major contract to supply a further 63 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) to Rotterdam’s ECT Delta Terminal.

The order, which follows a previous order of 22 AGVs to the Rotterdam terminal, was agreed on the second day of TOC Europe 2013 held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam last week.

The delivery will start at the end of the existing order, which is due to completed in April 2014.

The VDL AGV, on show at the company’s TOC Europe stand throughout the event, can carry up to 70 tonnes and is capable of transporting ISO containers of 20, 40 and 45 feet. Alternatively, it can transport two 20 foot containers simultaneously, as well as being able to travel at speeds of up to 6 metres per second.

The VDL AGV is a joint product of VDL Containersystemen, VDL Steelweld, APTS and various VDL supply companies.
