DP World has announced the opening of Reefer World, a new one-stop refrigerated container facility in Sydney, Australia.
The facility is expected to offer various reefer solutions, such as pre-trip wash, inspection, and structural repairs, to enhance efficiency and ensure the quality and freshness of perishable cargo delivered to destinations around the globe.
With the opening of this facility, DP World is doubling its capacity to supply empty reefers, with the ability to pre-trip and wash more than 100 reefer containers daily.
The company reported that the facility will also enable it to capture growing demand for exports from key markets including Brisbane and Melbourne, and in New Zealand covering Auckland and Tauranga.
Reefer World’s strategic location adjacent to the DP World Sydney Terminal will enable the facility to provide customers quicker turnaround time through coordinated container movement, cleaning, repairs, customs clearance, and storage services, according to the company’s release.
The facility, based in Port Botany, will also be well-connected to motorways and has an on-dock rail siding, thereby improving rail access into and out of the terminal.

“As businesses continue to build greater agility, reliability, and resilience into their supply chains, Reefer World will help to facilitate the timely and efficient flow of perishable goods, while addressing increased export demand in the region,” said Andrew Adam, CEO, DP World Australia.
This announcement comes less than two weeks after DP World and Grupo Puntacana announced a joint effort to develop a new air cargo logistics hub in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Earlier this month the company also announced a $38 million investment to modernise and expand its facilities located on the left bank of the Port of Santos, Brazil.
