Kalundborg Havn will begin the significant expansion of the port under the name New West Harbour in 2017, beginning with an additional 330,000 square metres with 500 metres of quay and 15 metres water depth.

New West Harbour, which will be located on the south side of Kalundborg Fjord, will strengthen the whole business cluster in Kalundborg.

Bent Rasmussen, Director of the Port of Kalundborg  said: “We want to invest in the future, but have run out of space for new businesses to establish themselves (at the port).  To meet the port's development and growth potential we will now have more space, so the port can continue to contribute to economic and employment development.”

Jakob Beck Jensen, Chairman of the Port of Kalundorg said: “We have for many years struggled to improve the infrastructure to and from Kalundborg,

“At the Port of Kalundborg we would like to continue to contribute to growth and job creation, but it requires improved conditions in terms of space, and therefore we have decided to expand the New West Harbour.”

Kalundborg Havn begins construction in the summer of 2017 and expects that the new port area to be ready for operation in the autumn of 2018.
