A Post-Panamax cargo ship, owned by Danaos, has spilled between 60 to 100 litres of fuel in the English Bay, Vancouver.
The spill was reported to the Canadian Coast Guard on 21 January. In order to stop the oil from spreading, a boom has been deployed.
“We anticipate the fuel has thinned and spread out overnight and we are working today to aggressively contain the slick and remove as much as possible from the marine environment,” a spokesperson for the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard also expressed confidence that the situation would remain steady after he mentioned that no further fuel had been spilled by the ship.
A helicopter, drones, and pollution response vessels were deployed by the Canadian Coast Guard on 23 January to seek for any residual fuel.
Responders noted that Point Grey and the North Arm had some non-recoverable sheen.
The Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC), under the direction of the Coast Guard, was hired by Danaos to respond to the event.
In November Danaos expanded its fleet due to an exponential rise in profits.
