Port Technology has interviewed Guy Rey-Herme, President of XVELA, about how the evolution of supply chain technologies will affect the container shipping industry.

The one-on-one interview, part of a series filmed at Port Technology's Container Terminal Automation Conference (#CTAC2018), has delved into what XVELA is doing in 2018 to encourage supply chain collaboration between all the stakeholders in the container shipping industry.

XVELA connects terminal operators and ocean carriers on a shared, open collaboration platform providing actionable visibility, real-time communication and connected intelligence.

In the interview, while explaining how the supply chain could be better connected, Rey-Herme said: “Today you have people all around the world who are trying to plan the same event, but they don't do that together.

“From some calls, we've identified five different people working on five different plans for the same code for the same vessels.

“We can put that into the Cloud and allow people to use one plan and collaborate on that plan.”
