China's COSCO suspends shipping to Israel

Israeli financial news website, Globes, reported that Chinese shipping company, COSCO, has suspended shipping to Israel.

The suspension follows the ongoing disruption in the Red Sea which is impacting major shipping lines, reported Reuters. The Globe’s report, however, did not include further details about COSCO’s decision.

According to Reuters, COSCO offices based in Israel have declined to comment, meanwhile Israeli port officials stated they were examining the report.

In December 2023, COSCO Heavy Industry Shanghai Co. signed a contract with MAN Energy Solutions for the methanol retrofit of four main engines from COSCO Line’s Camellia and Virgo – class vessels, 13,800 and 20,000 TEU respectively.
