CMA CGM resumes operations in the Red Sea

The CMA CGM Group has reviewed the situation in the Southern Area of the Red Sea, and the changing conditions allow it to continue transit on a case-by-case basis.

The shipping company stated in an operations report on 28 February that the situation for each vessel is being closely monitored before each journey; so, routing choices cannot be anticipated or disclosed.

CMA CGM stated that all other vessels are rerouted through the Cape of Good Hope.

On 19 January, CMA CGM implemented contingency plans for services crossing the Suez Canal to ensure the safety of its vessels and crews amidst recent attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

More recently, the carrier took the delivery of the CMA CGM Mermaid, the first ship in a series of 10 new 2,000 TEU containerships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
