CMA CGM has announced a new dedicated rail service connecting Valencia with the industrial and logistics zone of Murcia in Spain.

As of May 2023, the new service offers rail shuttle with a weekly departure.

It also offers an intermodal transit time of one day with carbon dioxide (CO2) savings of 3.41 compared to trucks.

Almost two months ago, the company launched a new intermodal service through Lekki Port.

The new service will export cargo from Murcia Ramp to Shanghai in 39 days, Nhava Sheva in 32 days, Hamburg in 10 days and New York in 10 days, according to CMA CGM.

The shipping company followed that importing cargo from Shanghai will take 31 days through the new service, 22 days from Nhava Sheva, and five days from Ambarli.

This announcement comes a month after CMA CGM granted a put option to Bolloré Group for the sale of Bolloré Logistics, its transport and logistics operations.

More recently, CMA CGM released its financial statement for the first quarter of 2023, posting $12.7 billion in revenues. This figure reflected a 30.2 per cent year-on-year drop.
