ClassNK endorses new vessel monitoring solution

Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) has given its Innovation Endorsement for Products and Solutions to Deep Sea Technologies SMPC’s ‘Cassandra’ vessel and voyage performance monitoring technology.

Cassandra is a platform that merges vessel performance data with AI technology, allowing for real-time monitoring of the ship’s state.

It is cloud-based and intended to monitor fuel usage, CO2 emissions, hull and engine performance from shore.

ClassNK validated Cassandra’s different functionalities, which include CO2 emissions monitoring, hull and engine performance indexes, auxiliary equipment monitoring, automated reports, real-time alerts, and an event log display among others.

Additionally, the firm has recognised that the “DSS” notations apply to vessels under ClassNK registration, provided they are equipped with the product and have issued a certificate to the company accordingly.

In February, the Japanese firm together with Lovoy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and deploy more user-friendly Safety Management Systems (SMSs).
