Chittagong depot catches fire again

A fire has broken out at the BM Container depot in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The local Fire Service and Civil Defense Control room said the fire broke out at a jute storage inside the depot at 3.15 pm local time (9.15 am GMT) on 13 December.

Three firefighting units rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze within an hour alongside the depot’s own firefighting unit.

The causes of the fire and entity of damages remain unknown.

The incident follow’s the June fire that broke out at the same storage depot in Chittagong, causing a massive explosion which killed 49 people.

The fire broke out at around 9.00 am local time (3.00 pm GMT) on 4 June. Hundreds of firefighters, police, and volunteers arrived on the scene. As they tried to extinguish the blaze a huge explosion erupted.

After the incident, the BM depot experienced several challenges.
