Cavotec has unveiled PowerAlign, a new modular and mobile shore power solution designed to meet the specific needs of container terminals.
According to Cavotec, the new solution delivers shore power connections with up to 140 metres of coverage per unit, expandable through additional modules.
David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec, said: “Developed in close collaboration with port stakeholders, PowerAlign offers a compact, flexible, and future-proof solution to support emissions reduction without sacrificing performance.”
Unlike fixed systems that can obstruct operations, PowerAlign features a low-profile socket box and a compact footprint of under 3.5 square metres (m²), keeping quaysides clear.
Its enclosed cable reel, mounted at the quay edge, reduces wear and maintenance needs—ideal for high-traffic, space-limited terminals.

PowerAlign is compact and unobtrusive, occupying less than 3.5 m² and integrating seamlessly into existing quay layouts.
Each unit offers up to 140 m of coverage, with the flexibility to extend reach by adding modules.
It delivers safe and compliant shore power connections, supporting up to 16 kA/s and meeting IEC 80005-1 standards.
The system’s modular design allows track installation on either the quay face or deck, adapting to various terminal configurations.

Enclosed, protected cable reels ensure optimal cable handling, extending cable life and minimising downtime.
Whether deployed on new or existing berths, PowerAlign enables container ports to meet regulatory and environmental goals without compromising on productivity or vessel turnaround times.
