During oil spill incidents there will always be lessons learned. Some of these will have some influence on the oil spill recovery industry for a period.
However, it is often the case that new and different lessons will be learned during subsequent oil spill incidents.
As Ro-Clean Desmi has been part of this industry for almost 30 years, the various lessons learned have of course reflected on the requirements from the user and their equipment.
The main things discovered in the last 30 years are that each oil spill incident is different and major oil spill incidents will call for vessels that are not dedicated to the specialised job called ‘oil spill recovery.’
Finally, time is a critical issue; a quick response is needed when a spill happens in a port area.
Thus, the major task for an oil spill recovery equipment supplier is to ensure that equipment is durable, versatile, and easy to operate, as well as designed in a way so it can be used onboard multiple vessels.
