Nobody who has been involved in the shipping, port and terminal industry could have missed the surge in focus on digitization and automation that we have seen over the past few years. 2017 especially saw these topics take front and centre stage at virtually every industry conference and gathering, not to mention at C-level and board meetings within the industry itself.

Here at the beginning of 2018, it might be a good time to pause to take a look at what has actually been happening in the past year, why it happened and what is in store going forward.
