Hyundai to operate new Zayed Port facility

Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) have signed a contract for a new dedicated yard and warehouse facility for the import and export of cargo to support the Satah Al-Razboot (SARB) project.

Antwerp volumes continue to rise

The Port of Antwerp has reported a strong start to the year after handling 48,166,806 tonnes of freight during the first three months of 2014, up 2.5 percent over the corresponding period last year.

China Harbour Works to build Port Qasim dry bulk terminal

China Harbour Works has won the US$130 million contract to build Port Qasim’s new Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT). The dry bulk facility, requiring a total investment of $250 million, will have the capacity to handle 12 million tonnes per year of imported coal, and a further four million tonnes of cement and clinker.

Rotterdam throughput remains stable

The Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port, saw cargo throughput remain relatively stable during the first quarter of 2014. Europe’s largest port handled 109 million tonnes during the first three months of 2014, down 0.2 percent when compared to the corresponding period last year.
