Dutch shipping company, WEC Lines, has introduced a new weekly service connecting the UK, France and Northwestern Europe with Casablanca, Morocco.
The shipping company has launched the new ‘Euro-Maroc service’, establishing a direct sailing route from Rotterdam and Antwerp to Casablanca.
The new service replaces the existing NWC Iberia and MOPT services, and will go into effect from 19 September.
This service, which departs from Montoir on Tuesday and arrives in Thamesport on Thursday, reportedly provides an environmentally beneficial alternative to vehicle travel from West France into England. Montoir will be called Northbound and Southbound twice a week.

Thamesport, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Montoir, Bilbao, Vigo, Leixes, Setubal, Casablanca, and Figueira da Foz are among the ports of call for this new route, bridging these major economic centres.
The new weekly service will be conducted by three 800-TEU vessels in a 21-day fixed day rotation, providing clients with more flexibility and efficiency through excellent short sea and hinterland links.

In February 2023, WEC Lines introduced additional weekly calls to ports in Northern Spain, Portugal, North Africa and the Canary Islands to its current rotation into the Port of Liverpool.
Six months later, CMA CGM SSL Intra Europe announced it will revise its BAF on its Roro South services connecting France with Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
