Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, part of the technology group Wärtsilä, will supply cargo handling systems for two large Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carrier vessels under construction at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd. in South Korea.
The ships were chartered by Solvang, a Norwegian ship owner. The order is comparable to one placed in 2023 for five vessels built in the same yard for the same owner.
Wärtsilä signed its newest deal in the first quarter of 2024.
The VLGCs are Panamax-sized and represent the next generation of eco-vessels. The vessels will reportedly have a cargo capacity of 88,000 cubic metres (m3) and will contain environmental technologies developed during Solvang’s ECO LPG Carrier development, which lasted 12 years.

These two new additions to the fleet will feature the most efficient solutions currently available, which is why we have again opted for Wärtsilä cargo handling systems.”
