A video released recently by EuroNews Knowledge shows a new class of cargo-ship engine that has been developed at a research facility in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The engine is powered by both diesel and LNG and has been designed to reduce the emissions of gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

Researchers say the biggest challenge was finding the components to build the engine that would be both safe and reliable.

The engine now consists of an inner and outer pipe and, since the outer pipe is ventilated, gas can be monitored to locate any leakages in the system.
