Traxens, a provider of supply chain solutions, has revealed that its Internet of Things (IoT) tracking system will be used by connected freight wagons throughout the European corridor and New Silk Road.
The technology is being rolled out as part of a collaboration with CFL multimodal, which has carried out an initial trial of Traxens’ box devices on flat wagons travelling between destinations in Europe.
Following the success of the pilot project, launched in 2018, Traxens’ solution was extended to over 20 wagons delivering cargo to more distant European destinations.

By providing precise and timely data on cargo as it travels along the supply chain, the technology improves efficiency, transparency and asset utilization.
In addition to this, CFL also aims to streamline its rail operations with the support of automation, including such innovations as digital brake testing.
According to a statement from Traxens, its Digital Freight Train solutions “consolidate, secure and accelerate brake safety testing”.

Florence Delalande, rail business unit director at Traxens, said: “As an outcome of our joint pilot project, we are delighted that CFL multimodal decided to extend its use of our bespoke IoT technology in its rail freight operations to China.
