Topsoe, a Danish carbon emissions firm, has inked an engineering agreement with Approtium to convert low-carbon ammonia into hydrogen using their H2RETAKE technology.
Topsoe will provide technologies for Approtium’s major project in Ulsan, South Korea. The facility is expected to create 75,000 metric tonnes of hydrogen per year, which would help South Korea meet its expanding need for co-firing in the power generating industry.
The initiative reportedly contributes significantly to South Korea’s objective of lowering GHG emissions by 40 per cent by 2030 (using 2018 as a baseline).
