A video released recently shows the Isla Bella, the world’s first LNG containership, as it was launched by its builder Nassco in San Diego, US on April 18, 2015.

As reported by PTI previously, the container vessel is part of a two-ship contract and marks the first container of its kind to run on LNG fuel.

Despite attempts made by companies to help along the transition to cleaner transportation fuels, there have been concerns that such a move could incur around $500bn in the next ten years for the shipping industry, as a result of higher fuel costs.

This has all been triggered by the IMO’s decision to cut sulphur emissions from the original amount of 3.5% to 0.5%.
