Jaya Container Terminal (JCT), located at the Colombo Port, Sri Lanka has simultaneously anchored three large-scale container ships – the MSC Jovanna, Ever Lenient and MSC Toronto – each over 300 metres, setting a record for the container terminal, according to Colombo Page.

Major developments are currently underway at Colombo Port after it was recently reported by PTI that a US$500 million container was being planned to facilitate trade.

A mega-port city was also planned for Colombo Port and scheduled to be completed in February, 2016.

As a country, Sri Lanka has had much involvement in China’s One Belt, One Road initiative, and was the first country to support the major Chinese plan.
