SITC noted that in the future, it will continue to deepen its strategic partnership with Xiamen, expand and upgrade cooperation areas, and carry out all-round business cooperation.

The Chinese shipping company stated that it will focus on route network layout, international transit, the entire logistics service chain, cross-border e-commerce, hinterland cargo source expansion, port intelligence, and digital transformation.

Furthermore, SITC intends to collaborate with Xiamen on developing a model of collaboration between regional ports and shipping, as well as fostering industrial transformation.

In December 2023, it was reported that China’s ports witnessed a 4.9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) surge in container throughput, totalling 257 million TEU during the first ten months.
