Global schedule reliability continues to trend upward according to the latest analysis from Sea-Intelligence.

The firm published issue 132 of the Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, with schedule reliability figures up to and including July 2022.

Data from the report outlined reliability increasing by 0.5 percentage points in July 2022 to 40.5 per cent.

This is now the second time since the start of the pandemic that schedule reliability improved year-on-year.

The average delay for late vessel arrivals has been dropping sharply so far this year, tapering off in the past few months, CEO Alan Murphy wrote.

In July 2022, average delay improved slightly by -0.09 days month-on-month, which means that the delay figure is now firmly below the seven-day mark.

With schedule reliability of 48.0 per cent, Maersk was the most reliable carrier in July 2022, followed by Evergreen with 44.3 per cent. CMA CGM also recorded schedule reliability of over 40 per cent.

There were 9 carriers with schedule reliability of 30 per cent to 40 per cent and only two with schedule reliability of 20 per cent to 30 per cent.

ZIM had the lowest schedule reliability in July 2022 of 26.6 per cent. On a year-on-year level, 11 of the top-14 carriers recorded an improvement in schedule reliability in July 2022, with 7 carriers recording double-digit improvements.

The Sea-Intelligence GLP report covers 34 different trade lanes and 60+ carriers.

Last week the firm wrote that demand for containers is slowly coming into line with global fleet capacity.
