The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) has revealed that the average dwell time for trucks hauling containers through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach remained low in July.
The average rail-destined freight dwell time increased from the previous month but remained below the highs set earlier this year.
PMSA reported that cargo passing through the San Pedro Bay Port Complex and heading for local distribution by truck spent an average of 2.81 days at port terminals in July, slightly more than the 2.70 days reported in June.

July witnessed an average rail-destined freight stay time of 5.66 days, up from 4.73 days in June.
Natasha Villa, External Affairs Manager of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association, said: “In the face of the high volumes experienced by the ports in July, we are pleased to see that truck dwell time remains low, and all stakeholders are working together to improve the improve fluidity of cargo through the ports.”
