Leading automation technology provider NASCENT has been chosen to upgrade the gate system at Puerto Rico-based shipping agency Luis A. Ayala Colon Sucrs Inc., according to a statement.

NASCENT says its SYNAPSE AGS 3 system will be at the heart of the drive towards greater efficiency at the Luis A. Ayala Colon container terminal.

In addition, NASCENT’s enVision Imaging and OCR Portals have also been selected to further increase security at the terminal by automatically scanning and identifying cargo moving through the gates.

It has been running NASCENT’s SYNAPSE AGS system since 2006 when it was first implemented for then terminal operator Horizon Lines.

The latest move to modernize the gate system is being undertaken as the Luis Ayala Colon is implementing a newly upgraded terminal operating system (TOS), which is scheduled to go online in the first quarter of 2019.
