PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) (IPC), Mitsui & Co, Ltd. (Mitsui), Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) and PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA) have agreed to jointly participate in the construction and operation of a new container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Indonesia.
The new terminal will be developed and operated by the newly established project company PT New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1).
The new terminal will have an annual handling capacity of approximately 1.5 million TEU, an overall berth length of 850m, and a 16m draft, which will allow the terminal to accommodate megaships.
By exploring the use of environmentally friendly activities such as cold-ironing, NPCT1 aims to focus on reducing emissions, conserving energy and environmental protection activities in drive to become a ‘Green Terminal’.
Participation in the construction and operation of the new container terminal is expected to help Mitsui to benefit from the growth potential of high-growth economies in Southeast
Asia, and to expand its involvement in logistics infrastructure projects.
Together with its partners, Mitsui, NYK Line and IPC, PSA will leverage on its global expertise and experience in operating container terminals worldwide to develop NPCT1 into a world-class facility in order to support Indonesia’s growing economy and facilitate the expanding maritime trade.
