PSA Mumbai exceeds 2 million TEU mark in 2023

PSA Mumbai, based in Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) in Maharashtra, has handled over 2 million TEU in 2023.

Container volume increased by 30 per cent year-on-year (YoY) throughout the year, with the terminal processing over 2,000 container rakes and docking 834 ships.

To commemorate this significant milestone, PSA Mumbai hosted a grand celebration on 5 January 2024, attended by esteemed customers, government officials, and industry associations.

The terminal has reportedly invested substantially in state-of-the-art equipment, advanced digital systems, and training to optimise efficiency and productivity.

Phase 2 of PSA Mumbai is anticipated to be operational by the first quarter of 2025. This expansion is scheduled to create new opportunities for the Export-Import (EXIM) community to leverage the new facilities and support the growth of the Indian logistics sector.

Vincent Ng, PSA’s Regional CEO of Middle East and South Asia, stated: “With a staggering 30 per cent year-over-year growth, PSA Mumbai joined an elite club of container terminal models in 2023 after handling 2 million TEU in a single year. In addition to its extraordinary expansion, PSA Mumbai has led the way in creative and ground-breaking sustainability projects.

“Without the assistance of its numerous stakeholders, PSA Mumbai would not have been able to succeed. For this reason, I would like to sincerely thank JNPA.”
