PortXchange appoints Account Executive for North America

PortXchange has announced the long-awaited entrance into North America, naming Matt Swenson as Account Executive.

In his new capacity, Swenson will reportedly lead the charge in amplifying PortXchange’s outreach across the US and put vital decarbonisation tools into the hands of maritime stakeholders throughout North America.

Swenson has five years of extensive experience in data, AIS technology and digital solutions for the maritime sector.

He formerly worked at MarineTraffic and Lloyd’s List Intelligence, where he worked directly with ports, actively contributing to the creation and execution of systems designed to fulfil particular needs for visibility, vessel monitoring, and operating efficiency.

According to PortXchange, Swenson will use its range of technologies to show the North American market the benefits of decreasing carbon footprints through simplified emissions data collecting and just-in-time arrivals.

Sjoerd de Jager, CEO of PortXchange, remarked: “We are thrilled to have Matt Swenson on board. His knowledge and passion for the marine environment, especially around North America, will stand him in good stead.

“The maritime industry stands at a pivotal juncture where the call for digitalisation, data-driven strategies, and collaborative initiatives between ports and shipping lines have never been more urgent. In this critical moment, US ports have already demonstrated the aspiration to be frontrunners in this transition, not because of emerging legislation but because of customer service and strategic necessity.

“With Matt on the ground and our already strong track record in the US, we are excited about what we can accomplish together with the US-based maritime ecosystem.”

In February, PortXchange highlighted the maritime sector’s lack of readiness for the upcoming EU environmental regulations.
