The Port of Oakland’s Board of Port Commissioners has elected Cestra ‘Ces’ Butner as President of the Port of Oakland’s governing board, succeeding Joan Story.

Having previously held the post between July 2013 and July 2014, this is Commissioner Butner’s second tenure as President.

He joined the Port’s Board in 2012, after serving on boards of the East Bay YMCA and Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

Commenting on his appointment, Butner said: “I appreciate the support of my colleagues on the Board and I’m eager to continue serving the Port.

“We’ll work with the staff to grow the Port’s business for the benefit of our community.”

As well as Butner, the Port of Oakland’s governing board elected both a First Vice President, Commissioner Andreas Cluver, and a Second Vice President, Commissioner Michael Colbruno. All three begin their new roles on July 26.
