Port of San Diego appoints new Acting CEO

The Board of Port Commissioners has announced the appointment of Randa Coniglio as Acting President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Port of San Diego.

The Board’s decision was made during a closed session on 14 July.

Danielle Moore, Acting Chair, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners, said: “With careful consideration, Randa Coniglio has been selected for this important role with the utmost confidence in her abilities and leadership qualities.

“As Acting President and CEO, she will provide continuity of operations and ensure stability for our organisation, constituents and businesses during this period. Our primary focus continues to be on the seamless continuation of our services and the welfare of our employees and stakeholders.

“Randa brings a wealth of experience with this organisation and a deep understanding of our agency’s mission, which will be instrumental in moving forward with our commitment to serving the public without disruption.”

Randa Coniglio served as the Port of San Diego’s first female CEO/President until 2021.

She began working at the port in 2000 as a Senior Real Estate Asset Manager. She has held the positions of Area Real Estate Manager, Director of Real Estate, Assistant Vice President – Operations, Vice President – Operations, and Executive Vice President.

In 2015, she was promoted to President and CEO.

Prior to joining the port, she worked for a Japanese corporation for eight years, managing a local portfolio of commercial investment properties, and for five years in retail leasing and development.

In September 2022, the Port of San Diego accepted an approximately $2.7 million grant from the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District (SDAPCD) to support clean technology investments.

More recently, Konecranes provided two new all-electric Gottwald Generation 6 Mobile Harbour Cranes to the Port of San Diego’s Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal (TAMT).
