The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan has exceeded 30 million TEU in 2021 so far, joining Shanghai and Singapore in the “over 30 million containers club”.

According to Zgsyb, this major milestone highlights the acceleration of the integrated development of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.

The port also recently made PTI’s list of ‘Top 10 Ports in China’ with successful container handling figures for the year so far.

Located in the Zhejiang province of China, the port handled 26,720,000 TEU in the first 10 months of 2021, indicating an increase of 11% compared to the same period in 2020.

Despite having to slow and suspend terminal operations in September due to Typhoon Chanthu, the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan has solidified its place amongst the titans of the Chinese maritime sector with its consistent strong figures.

In more recent news, five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Chinese city of Ningbo earlier this month, prompting further fears of disruption from the city’s major port.
