Pacific International Lines (PIL) has announced the new Intra-Redsea Feeder 2 service (IR2), which includes a direct call to Hodeidah in Yemen.
IR2 complements PIL’s existing Intra-Redsea Feeder 3 service (IR3) which covers Aden in Yemen.
With this new dedicated service of IR2, PIL is set to have expanded presence in Yemen and enhanced global connectivity for the country.
This comes four months after PIL announced a new weekly direct service connecting key ports of Thailand, Philippines and Singapore.
IR2 will commence on 29 June from Djibouti, served by PIL’s vessel Kota Rahmat.
Tonnie Lim, Chief Trade Officer, PIL, said: “The launch of IR2 is part of our aim to continually improve our connectivity from Asia to the Middle East.
“The broadening of our presence in Yemen conveys our confidence in the country and allows us to capitalise on the growth potential of the Middle East region.
“This also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our customers worldwide for a more comprehensive coverage of Yemen,” added Lim.
The ports of call for the IR2 service are: Djibouti – Hodeidah – Djibouti
In March of this year, PIL launched its intermodal service in South Korea, which offers train, truck, and barge services.
More recently, PIL announced a new weekly direct route connecting important ports in South Korea, China, the Malacca Straits, and Vietnam.
