A video released by the Panama Canal shows the March update to the grand expansion project, which began in 2007 and has required the efforts of 40,000 workers.
The process for installing the 16 rolling gates in the lock-heads of both key locks on the Atlantic and Pacific sides was completed in 2015.
After flooding all of the lock chambers, gate commissioning tests were started, bringing the project ever closer to being on schedule for its June 30, 2016 finish date.
Currently, the project is 97% complete, with the third lock expansion 96% completed.
