ONE launches Asia - US West Coast service

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the inauguration of the Asia Pacific 1 (AP1) service, a new route connecting Asia to the US West Coast.

Due to the continued increase of US import volumes from Asia to the US West Coast, ONE is introducing the AP1 service to expand its offering and better satisfy customers’ demands.

ONE’s strategic initiative intends to increase its position in the transpacific market by increasing its coverage to the current network.

According to ONE, AP1 adds direct routes from Taipei and Shekou to the US West Coast.

The service’s return leg from the US West Coast to Vietnam is projected to take 19 days to Haiphong and 22 days to Cai Mep.

Yu Kurimoto, Managing Director of ONE, stated: “The introduction of the AP1 service underscores ONE’s unwavering commitment to this crucial trade lane. Complementing our existing product mix, we are dedicated to delivering outstanding, reliable, and holistic services.”

Subject to relevant regulatory approval, ONE noted that the first sailing for AP1 is planned to begin in late Spring, around April or May 2024.

According to ONE, the port rotation is as follows: Haiphong – Cai Mep – Shekou – Xiamen – Taipei – Ningbo – Shanghai – Los Angeles – Oakland – Shekou – Haiphong

In January, ONE announced a service update to its Adriatic Service (AIB) in the Mediterranean region.

More recently, ONE launched the world’s first dual-temperature refrigerated container trial equipped with Controlled Atmosphere (CA) functions.
