Stena Line Ports Ventspils JSC in Latvia has received its first electric Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Crane.
Ordered in mid-2024, it arrived in Q1 2025 and is now operational.
As part of its modernisation strategy, the port is investing in energy-efficient, low-emission equipment.
The electric ESP.7 crane operates on power from harbour mains and includes a hybrid system with a diesel generator and ultracapacitors for off-grid use.

This setup cuts emissions and reduces operating costs compared to traditional diesel models.
With a 125-tonne capacity, the crane will reportedly handle containers, general, project, and bulk cargo. It replaces a 1988 Gottwald crane from the port’s previous operator.
