Kombiverkehr KG launches new service connecting Germany and the Netherlands

Kombiverkehr KG has announced it is expanding its range of services between Germany and the Netherlands with a new train running between Rotterdam and Köln-Eifeltor.

In Rotterdam, the service will terminate at the Rail Service Center (RSC) in Waalhaven. The first train will depart Rotterdam on 12 March and reach Köln-Eifeltor in twelve hours.

Forwarders and logistics companies can now book the new service, which leaves on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in both directions, according to the Port of Rotterdam.

Transfers to nearby parts of the port are available from the continental RSC terminal and can be booked as an optional extra. Intermodal transport is possible with P400 loading units. All dangerous goods except class 7 can be carried.

“This new train product shows how we are capitalising on our network advantage,” said Andrea de Ambrogi, Head of Sales Benelux, on the USP of the new service.

“Köln-Eifeltor is one of our biggest hub terminals in Germany, with many options for onward transport both nationally and internationally. Within Germany, there are connections to Munich, Ulm, Kornwestheim and Basel. In international transport, the operator offers connecting services to and from Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Greece. The rapid transfer of loading units between trains enables Melzo in northern Italy, for example, to be reached from the Port of Rotterdam in 48 hours.”

Earlier this month, CLdN announced the launch of new services between Rotterdam and Ireland and has expanded capacity between Rotterdam and the UK.

More recently, the Brazilian National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ) signed a cooperation agreement with The Netherlands to develop green ports.
