Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will equip Générale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) in Le Havre, France, with four more Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers.
The close to €5 million ($5.2 million) order was booked in Cargotec’s 2023 Q3 order intake with the units scheduled to be delivered by the end of Q4 2023.
GMP has used Kalmar straddle carriers since the early 1990s and has already bought 28 hybrid units since 2020.
These carriers intend to assist GMP in decreasing its carbon footprint in accordance with its strategic goals, with the added benefit of reducing noise pollution.
Furthermore, the dock at GMP Le Havre is being enlarged, necessitating the purchase of additional machinery to service its fleet of Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes.

Two months later, Kalmar concluded an agreement with Rotterdam Short Sea Terminals (RST) to supply six Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers.
