Kalmar delivers equipment to Port Réunion terminal

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has agreed with CMA CGM’s subsidiary CMA Terminals to supply three Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers for SAMR, the company’s terminal on Réunion Island.

The large order was booked in Cargotec’s Q4 2023 order intake, with delivery of the machines scheduled for Q4 2024.

CMA Terminals currently operates multiple Kalmar diesel-electric straddle carriers at its terminal in the port.

Karri Keskinen, Head of Global Sales, Horizontal Transportation, Kalmar, said: “Kalmar and CMA Terminals have a long and successful history of collaboration.

“We are proud that they have selected our proven hybrid straddle carrier solution – which can cut fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent compared to equivalent diesel-powered machines – to support them with their transition to more eco-efficient cargo-handling operations.”

In December 2023, Kalmar concluded an agreement with long-term Brazilian customer, Super Terminais, to supply a wide variety of equipment and services for its Manaus terminal in northern Brazil.

More recently, Kalmar struck a deal with Terminal Cuenca del Plata S.A. (TCP) to supply 20 Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers for deployment at the terminal in the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay.
