Jeddah Islamic Port handles record container volumes in October

Jeddah Islamic Port has seen its container throughput breach a new monthly record this October.

Figures from the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) indicate the port handled 468,550 TEU at a 16.54 per cent yearly growth rate from 402,061 TEU in October 2021.

With more than 75 per cent of the Saudi Arabia’s transshipment and maritime trade bound towards its docks, Jeddah Islamic Port remains the Kingdom’s leading import and export destination as well as the Red Sea’s top re-export point.    ​

In October MAWANI signed new $171 million contracts to deepen and build new berths at Jeddah Islamic Port.
