The Port of Hamburg has received its first containership from new Japanese shipping line Ocean Network Express (ONE).
The ONE Continuity, nicknamed the ‘Pink Lady’ for its striking colour, reached the Port of Hamburg on October 26 and was handled at HHLA’s Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA).
With a TEU capacity of 8,102, it is deployed on the port’s Far East-Europe 1 liner service, a weekly route between Hamburg and Tokyo, Japan.

On the way, it also stops at Singapore, Jeddah and, in Europe, Southampton, Le Havre and Rotterdam.

131,000 TEU is transported between Hamburg and Japan every year, and the first half of 2018 saw an increase of 9% on the same time 2017.
The Port of Hamburg, in a statement, said experts believe that figure will increase thanks to the free trade agreement signed between the EU and Japan in August, due to come into force in 2019.
