ICTSI Subic introduces new service with South China, Vietnam connectivity

Subic Bay International Terminals (SBITC), a International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)’s subsidiary, has introduced a new service to improve connections between the Port of Subic, South China, and Vietnam.

The Danum 175, a 1,200 TEU boxship operated by Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), made its debut stop at the Port of Subic on 9 June 2023, as part of the South China Vietnam Philippines (SVP) route.

ESL, a recent entrant into the Philippine market, operates the SVP service with ASEAN Sea Line (ASL) and Pacific International Line (PIL).

The feeder service, which makes weekly visits to Subic, aims to meet South China and Vietnam’s rising commercial needs.

It also strives to highlight the free trade agreement between the Philippines and other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, such as Vietnam, which is seeing increased demand for its agricultural and manufacturing exports.

Henry Dungca, SBITC Terminal Manager, stated: “The service offers a good opportunity to Northern and Central Luzon traders, who can leverage the increased connectivity to markets in Vietnam and China.”

According to ICTSI, the SVP service rotation is as follows:

Shekou – Nansha – Xiamen – Manila North – Subic – Xiamen – Shekou – Nansha – Ho Chi Minh – Shekou.

SBITC reportedly serves more than a dozen weekly services and major shipping lines with the addition of the SVP service and ESL.

In March 2023, ICTSI added another berth at the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).

Two months later, ICTSI’s Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) unveiled new investments to benefit the Port of Matadi.
