ICTSI Manila welcomes next-generation cranes

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has upgraded its Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) with three new quay cranes to handle larger vessels.

The cranes were all manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. (ZPMC). Two of the cranes are post-Panamax with a reach of 18 rows across, and they will be used at Berths 3 and 4. The third crane is a neo-Panamax with a reach of 20 rows across, and it will be deployed at Berth 7.

The new cranes will be put into operation after commissioning, expanding MICT’s fleet to 18 quay cranes and reportedly enabling faster turnaround times at the country’s premier international trade gateway.

Just recently, ICTSI gained regulatory authority to manage and expand the Visayas Container Terminal (VCT), the international seaport in Iloilo City, central Philippines.
