With a particular focus on the ‘smart port’ concept, the IAPH World Ports Conference is to be held in Hamburg, Germany from June 1-5, 2015, where international representatives will come together to debate on globalisation and climate change.
Some of the topics to be discussed will include ship-size development, and the challenges facing ports and terminals when handling mega-ships, according to the American Journal of Transportation.
During the five-day conference, delegates will hear about what Hamburg, Europe and the world means by intelligent port management.
Among the speakers to present at the conference will be Jens Meier, CEO of the Hamburg Port Authority, who will show how logistical and economical processes can be made more efficient in the Port of Hamburg by IT-supported infrastructure.
Stockholm and Valencia representatives will be among those to present an answer as to what constitutes a smart port.
The last day of the conference will focus on air quality in ports, port legislation and cruise shipping.
