GCT New York is officially mega-ship ready after completing dredging works. Close to 38,200 cubic metres of mud and hard rock were removed from the 376 metre berth using controlled blasting.
Vibrations were closely monitored during the dredging process to ensure that the surrounding community and structures were never disturbed.
The terminal is supported by a fleet of post-Panamax cranes and an expanded on-dock rail transfer service.
Following the addition of two working tracks, the capacity of GCT New York's intermodal yard has increased by 40%, resulting in a more efficient service.
The terminal already has the highest crane productivity in the New York/New Jersey harbour and can now extend the same level of service to even larger vessels.
