Leading integrated shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC will open a warehouse and open yard in the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports.
According to a statement, the GAC Abu Dhabi facility will serve a wide range of sectors, including oil and gas, manufacturing, construction household effects and specialist equipment. It is expected to be open and fully operational by January 2020.
The facility will be located in the recently-launched KIZAD Logistics City, an industrial warehouse hub adjacent to Khalifa Port and connected to highways that lead into Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the announcement, KIZAD CEO Samir Chaturvedi, said: “GAC has been actively serving ship owners and operators at Khalifa Port for many years.

“Abu Dhabi is increasingly becoming a major global hub for logistics and shipping, and so it is only natural that a player of GAC’s scale and reputation would be looking to expand its presence in the Emirate.
“By joining the thriving KIZAD community, GAC becomes the latest major enterprise to realise the impact that the strategic location and exceptional infrastructure and support offered by our zone can have on their business.
“A firm such as GAC needs excellent access to transport infrastructure, including connectivity by road, sea and air, as well as flexibility to accommodate its growing warehouse needs, all of which they have found at KIZAD, and we are looking forward to helping them expand their business in Abu Dhabi even more.”
GAC Abu Dhabi’s Managing Director, Goran Eriksson, also commented: “Khalifa Port is an essential gateway to Abu Dhabi. Setting up operations at KIZAD gives us the advantage of being close to the state-of-the-art port, enabling greater operational efficiency for both GAC and our customers”.
