Major ports across Florida are halting operations in anticipation of a Category 1 hurricane Nicole making landfall this week.

In Florida, the US Coast Guard Captain of the Port has set port condition ZULU for Port Canaveral, JAXPORT, PortMiami, Port of Fernandina, Port Everglades and Port of Palm Beach; closing vessel intake and port operations.

Exceptionally rare for a hurricane to hit the area this late in the year, Nicole reached Florida yesterday evening.

Nicole is now centred over central Florida and due to head northwestwards to Georgia and South Carolina in the coming hours.

The ports of Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina are currently at condition X-Ray, expecting gale-force winds and rainfall.

In October supply chains in the Southeast US were severely impacted by Hurricane Ian making landfall.
