A carrier docked at the Port of Antwerp has caught fire, and firefighters were still on the scene fighting it into the morning of October 21, 2016, according to reports.

The cargo vessel was transporting cars when one caught fire, spreading to other cars and developing into a serious incident; all crew members left the ship unharmed.

Tugs were used to try and cool down the ship but due to high temperatures of the steel made the fire very difficult to put out.

In late September 2016 PTI reported a  fire in the cargo tanks of the Mexican-flagged ‘Burgos’ chemical carrier, off the coast of Veracruz, which began at noon on September 24, 2016 had taken three days of firefighting to extinguish.
